Bracket Rebonding (Attaching an Orthodontic Bracket)

What is an orthodontic bracket

An orthodontic bracket is a small but essential part of braces. It is bonded to the tooth surface with a special dental adhesive. Each bracket acts as a “connector” that transfers the force of the archwire, guiding the tooth into its proper position. Even one detached bracket disrupts the system, which is why rebonding should be done as soon as possible.

How the procedure works

Bracket rebonding is a quick and painless process, usually completed in just a few minutes:

  1. the tooth is cleaned and dried;
  2. a safe adhesive is applied;
  3. the bracket is carefully positioned;
  4. it is fixed with a curing light;
  5. the bracket is reattached to the archwire.

No injections or anesthesia are needed — you will only feel a light touch and a brief flash of light.

Why it matters

  • even one missing bracket affects the movement of your teeth;
  • untreated, the tooth can shift out of alignment, delaying progress;
  • postponing rebonding may lead to complications and higher costs later.

Benefits for the patient

  • restoring the full function of the braces;
  • ensuring treatment continues on schedule;
  • safe, quick, and painless;
  • peace of mind and confidence in results.

Care after rebonding

After the procedure, continue with normal braces care: maintain excellent oral hygiene, avoid hard or sticky foods, and attend regular orthodontic check-ups.
