The complete removable prosthesis is elastic

Nylon removable prosthesis – it is a removable orthopedic construction made of soft and elastic material – nylon. Unlike acrylic, it does not rub or injure the gums and is more comfortable to wear.

Soft dentures can be used with full dentition.

Soft removable prostheses are ideal for people with existing allergies to metal, ceramics and plastic. In some cases, for example, when planning implantation, they can be a temporary solution.

Advantages and disadvantages of soft dentures

Orthopedic nylon products have many advantages:

  • Due to the uniform load on the jaw during chewing, the processes of bone atrophy are slowed down.
  • Safe and hypoallergenic, no metals are used in their production.
  • Can be used in the absence of supporting teeth.
  • Light weight construction.
  • Simple home care.
  • Strength. Due to the elasticity of nylon, such a prosthesis is quite difficult to break.
  • Due to the absence of gum rubbing, patients quickly get used to them.
  • Products do not absorb odors.

Disadvantages of removable nylon prostheses include:

  • With improper care, such products can be deformed.
  • Insufficient fixation. When using a nylon prosthesis on the upper or lower jaw, special fasteners are not used, and patients need to use special fixing creams / gels prescribed by the dentist.
  • Relatively short-lived compared to other types of prosthetics (for example, ceramic or metal-ceramic prostheses).

Indications for installing nylon prostheses

Orthopedic structures made of nylon can be installed according to the following indicators:

➤ Complete adentia – loss of teeth. Such conditions can develop for many reasons, for example, as a result of injuries or dental diseases (periodontitis, periodontitis).

➤ Presence of contraindications to implantation. Installation of implants is the most reliable method of prosthetics, but there are a number of conditions in which it is contraindicated (for example, diabetes, blood coagulation diseases, malignant tumors, HIV, tuberculosis, infectious processes, etc.).

Also, such structures can be temporarily used when planning prosthetics using other methods, such as “all-on-4” or “all-on-6” implantation.

How much does a nylon prosthesis cost?

How much do orthopedic nylon structures cost? The price of nylon prostheses depends on their type, size and installation complexity. The exact cost of the product can be given by a dentist after consulting and examining the patient.

Nylon prostheses are slightly more expensive than acrylic ones, but the ease of use, the absence of gum rubbing and the comfort of eating fully justify their cost. The price is explained by the cost of nylon material and technical features during production.

The average service life of such prostheses is 2-3 years, but with careful use and adherence to medical recommendations, it can last more than 5 years, maintaining its aesthetic and functional qualities.
