Removable plates

Plates for aligning teeth are orthodontic systems that are installed to correct the bite. The ideal age for such therapy is considered to be 6-15 years. After the jaw is formed, the bite is corrected with braces. Plates are installed on milk teeth, they consist of three components:

  • foundations;
  • metal wire;
  • the key.

Retainers not only correct, but also provide prevention of dental and jaw pathologies. A plate for a tooth, which can be installed in a dental clinic, levels interdental gaps, prevents displacement of teeth in a row, models the contours of the jaw.

Stages of installing plates for teeth

Installation of plates in the NOWA clinic is carried out in several stages. The first is preparatory, which includes a doctor’s consultation. The specialist must identify bite defects, assess the location of the teeth, and choose the optimal correcting technique.

At the next stage, casts are removed from the teeth of a small patient. After them, a plaster version of the jaw is made.

After trying on the plaster sample, they start making the plate. This process takes 7 to 14 days from the time the mold is created.

Direct installation takes about 10 minutes. The design should be adapted to a specific patient. The dentist installs the platinum, makes the necessary adjustments that make it more comfortable to wear. The patient does not feel pain – the doctor works very carefully.

In the first days of wearing the plate, slight discomfort may be felt, which soon passes. Salivation increases in some patients.

Thus, the installation that corrects the bite of the structure will require several visits to the dentist.

After placing the plate, the doctor explains how to properly care for it. Appoints the date of re-admission. You will have to visit the doctor several times a month. This is necessary for tightening the structure, correcting the pressure on the jaw.

How long do you need to wear dental plates and how to care for them

The duration of wearing plates, the main purpose of which is to correct the bite, depends on the age of the patient and how pronounced the pathology is. On average, the term is 1-2 years.

When wearing such plates, it is important to brush your teeth regularly, as plaque accumulates on them. Removable structures are washed with water every day. To clean the device, you can use a paste that does not contain abrasive substances and a brush with soft bristles.
Ideally, the oral cavity should be rinsed with water after every meal.

Every week, the plate is treated with an antiseptic.

When plaque or tartar is formed on the surface, professional cleaning is performed in the dentist’s office.

To achieve the optimal effect, corrective plates are recommended to be worn up to 22 hours a day. It is advisable to replace them every 12 months. When removing the plates, they are stored in a special container.
